The door that leads inside the hall opened loudly, causing everyone to turn. For some seconds the Great Hall fell silent and then, got filled with loud whispers on every table, including the teachers.
A figure in a long black cloak that covered its face appeared in the door. The Great Hall was never that silent. Even the lazy fly in the corner of the Hall seemed to get quarter as if also staring at the newcomer in surprise.
The restrained silence was bracken by the steps of the dark figure that was walking at a slow, leisurely pace. It was heading towards Dumbledore, who, unlike the student and staff, was standing with a welcoming and excited smile.
Who was this person and what was it doing at Hogwarts?
Whenever I've read any of the Harry Potter books, I've absolutely loved the times when the characters aren't facing conflict but are just chilling and enjoying Hogwarts life/life at the Burrow, etc. So, I decided to write a fanfic that includes a lot of this. Of course, conflict is what makes a good story, but I'm just playing around with things and I'm a very new writer :)

Self-conscious and cynical, he dislikes social occasions and avoids the company of women. Faced with an awkward and oddly effeminate young man, however, he goes out of his way to be kind.
Believing her a gentleman, Aspen shows Jacoline a man's life in Regency-era London and trusts her with his secrets. But as much as Jacoline comes to respect and love the Duke of Aspen, she is living a lie and the truth would ruin her. She does not know that her actions also risk exposing her brother's secret: an illegal male lover and a family hidden from the world.
