Devin arrives at Hogwarts and tries to adjust to the extravagent community on her first night. she meets up with a boy she met on the train and he slowly befriends her.

Devin experiences her first week of lessons, and gets to fly a broom on a real quidditch pitch for the first time. She is curious and a little worried when she sees a small figure race to the forbidden forest from the castle. At the end of the week someone she thought was a friend will change in her eyes forever.

Devin is lucky enough to have a class taught by the legendary Hermione Granger, who is curious about Devin's school. Devin is still haunted by the dream, but has a good friend to comfort her now.

Devin, nervous and unsure, goes to Hogsmeade with Harry and ends up having a brilliant time. Charlie, worried for Devin and seeming protective, questions Devin about her feelings but Devin only knows she likes Harry. She hopes it is only a crush and her haunting dreams persist.

Devin finds out whether or not she made the team but can't find Charlie when she needs some calming words. After his fight with Chase he hasn't been around, even though Chase is. She goes into the forest with a class on assignment and finds Charlie.... And a dark secret.

Charlie gives his life to the centaurs in order to free Devin. Devin tries to save him and the leader gives his centaurs permission to kill her too. Devin is saved by Hagrid, and they take Charlie's body back to his hut. There Devin spends all her time stressing and worrying for Charlie (still a centaur) as she slowly nurses him back to health.

After Ren'ee interrogates Devin about her absence the night before Devin realizes she has a Quidditch game, her first ever. She is incredibly nervous and knows she can't afford to dissapoint her team mates...

Devin is distracted as she plays quidditch because she saw Charlie looking agitated and saw him run to the forbidden forest when she was on her broom. After a hard game Devin sneaks from the castle yet again to enter the forest and look for Charlie, but this time she finds someone else waiting for her.

After explaining everything to Mcgonagall Devin races to find her friends. Ren'ee is trapped in the room of requirement and Charlie is in a broom closet, Devin can't live without them. Frantic and worried, she searches for her friends...
