Lily couldn’t scream for the shock. As the beast dragged her across the lawn, her back scraped against grass and rocks and burned with cuts. She tried to writhe out of her cloak, but her arms were stuck. She could hear barking nearby, and more thunderous running, as if she was being dragged through a stampede. The starry sky zoomed above her head, and she prepared for death.
