Arthur and Molly Weasley always dreamed of having children. Soon after their marriage they began to discuss numbers - a fair few they agreed, perhaps three or four. So along came Bill, soon followed by Charlie, and Percy a year or so after. Then the twins - that was unexpected but Arthur soon learnt to judge the squirming boys while Molly herded the others. But then Ron came along, another boy, and Molly couldn't help but long for a girl to complete the Weasley clan. And so the chaos ensued.
