“Well, that’s too bad because this mudblood doesn’t want to talk to a stuck up prick like you!” Hermione screamed as she picked up pace. Draco felt terrible. “Hermione, wait . . .” Draco said just loud enough for Hermione to hear. Hermione stopped and turned, “What?” she snapped, growing more angry. “I’m sorry” He said. She turned and walked away.

“Hermione, who are you writing?” Harry asked, walking into the room. Hermione quickly folded up the letter and turned to Harry, “Oh, um, I was just writing my mum to tell her I made it safely.” “Oh, well, we were just wondering what was taking you so long . . .” “Okay, I’ve just finished, but do you think I can borrow Hedwig?” “Ya, that’s fine.” Harry said. As Hermione passed him, Harry caught a glimpse of Draco’s name on the front of the letter.

  “Her-Hermione. What are you doing here?” he asked, clearly surprised, “I thought you were at the burrow. . .” 
“I was, but I missed you” she said looking him in the eye before pouncing on him. Closing the door behind them with her foot, Hermione kissed Draco with such passion that it took him a minute to realize what was going on.

                 Hermione stared at Draco before reaching up to touch the spot where his hand made contact with her cheek.
“You don’t mean that” he repeated, trying to hide the tears welling up in his eyes.

                "I hate you" Hermione said through clenched teeth.

            Hermione looked down at her hands.
            “I see.” Harry said quietly, “You pretend it’s Him . . .”
            Hermione nodded slowly.

“It’s just one thing after another with you, isn’t it?” he yelled, “First you say we can’t be together because of Ron. When he finally comes around and you and I can be together, this happens, and we suddenly can’t be together anymore! I’m starting to think you just don’t want to be with me!”
Hermione could feel tears forming in her eyes, “Of course I want to be with you!”
“You’re doing a great job of showing it!” He screamed, turning and walking out of the door.

“Um . . .” she started, trying to think of a good lie as quickly as possible, but soon being defeated by her lack of imagination. “I’m going after him” she confessed.

She smiled sadly and looked back at Draco. "I love you so much" she said, speaking from the emptyness that now filled her. "I always will."
