Lily stared and blinked, then read it through again, not sure whether to believe the letter. But it certainly seemed genuine enough.
‘Mummy’, she said quietly, with a quiver of excitement.
‘Ummm?’
‘Mummy, I’m a witch!’

‘Are you alright, dear?’ asked a kind, female voice. Lily looked up to see woman with long, curly red hair and smiling, hazel eyes. Next to her stood a tall man with dark, black hair and a handsome face, and next to him, a boy about the same age as her, who had his Dad’s messy black hair and a pair of round glasses over his mother’s hazel eyes.
‘Are you magic people?’ asked Lily quietly.

James looked up with a hurt expression, his mouth full of food, and was about to answer, when suddenly there was a loud swishing sound and a load of owls swooped in through the windows, letters and parcels attached to their legs.
‘Post is here!’ Lily heard an older student exclaim.
