Remus began to change. He had been fighting the changes ever since he was a young boy and had, once or twice managed – somehow – to hold them off, but every month, during the night of the full moon, Remus underwent a massive transformation. So massive, that if anyone at the school ever found out, chances were he would have to leave Hogwarts, and the wizarding world at large, forever. Forever was a long time.
