I cut myself off as I saw Black approaching with a HUGE, beautiful bouquet of flowers.  I groaned as he said to me, “Listen, I’m sorry about the incident earlier.  It was just a joke.  I didn’t mean any harm by it. I hope you like it here, I conjured these up for you.”
His voice sounded completely sincere and his eyes showed no sign of malice.  If this would get him to stay away from me, ok, he won’t feel like having to apologize again. I took the flowers from him and kind of nodded my head....

“Lily flower,” he started wonderfully, and then screwed it up, “so how about we snog later tonight?”  I closed my eyes as Lily dumped her cereal over his head.  I guess “to snog” (whatever that is) is not a good thing. Potter just took it in a heartbeat like this was a normal ritual and muttered a spell to clean himself up.  He continued though, to wear the bowl as a hat.  I couldn’t help it.  It was funny, so I laughed.

“Pete, I know you feel overshadowed and left behind, but you gotta just be who you are and not try to kill yourself to impress people.  If you are yourself and don’t let other people step on you, than you will get the respect you want,” I said to him softly.  He didn’t reply to what I said, but instead asked me, almost darkly, “And what happens if I don’t get that kind of respect no matter what I do?”

But something was going wrong.  I couldn’t control my emotions anymore.  I was letting it control me.  I could feel the imprints of fingernails gashing against my skin as I willed myself to stop.  Fighting every inch of my mind I tried to push myself out of the trance.  I could feel myself wobble back and forth until finally I was startled by a thud as the front door opened and I collided with the ground.

“Sophia, look, I’m not trying to make you my friend.  I’m not particularly interested in why you’ve become a recluse when it comes to your talents.  I want to help you manipulate them, and harness them.  I know you were holding back today. I may not be as deft as you are, but I want to know what you know. Won’t you just consider…” he broke off as I held up my hand.“Enough Severus,” was all I said.  A mixed expression flashed across his face.  It was something that resembled pride, anger and hurt.

“Get real Severus. You should know better. Magic? Dragons? Potions? You can’t get any more fairytale than this. If anyone is living in a twisted world of how things “should be” its you and whatever you are trying to gain. I see it in your mind, and the closer you get to obsession, the less you give a damn about the world around you. Or maybe, losing Lily has tossed you off the edge already and I’m wasting my words,” I concluded.

“Man, I wish the elves at home were more like the elves here. Kreacher keeps mumbling how I am a good for nothing. He pretends like he’s cleaning and then snoops through all of my stuff. I found him with my boxers on his head once as he was going through my drawers. I had to burn them after, and I loved those boxers.”
