“Remus?” she whispered, blinking at him.

“Yes, it’s me,” he replied quietly, staring into her hazel-brown eyes.

“Remus!” she said, a smile creeping across her face as she wrapped her arms around him. “You came back,” she said quietly.

One chilly evening, early in December, the Order had received intelligence that the Dark Mark had been set over a Muggle house. Lupin and Tonks apparated about half a mile from it and they could already see the aluminous Dark Mark floating in the sky. It was a colossal skull composed of what appeared to be hundreds of emerald stars, with a giant snake protruding out of its mouth, like a tongue. It was an ominous sign that meant only one thing – death. It was Voldemort’s mark, the mark his Death Eaters cast into the sky whenever they had killed.

None of them saw it coming but suddenly a silver patronus shot into the room and landed on the floor in front of them taking the shape of a goat. Aberforth Dumbledore’s voice filled the room: “They are coming for the Muggle Prime Minister tonight!”

“I have to get to Downing Street!” said Kingsley at once.

“You can’t take on all those Death Eaters on your own!” replied Fred.

“He won’t! 'Cause I'm going with him,” said Lupin firmly.

Tonks was sitting on the bed with a bundle of blankets cradled in her arms. She looked simply radiant.

"Wotcher, Remus!"

He stepped forward, stumbling over his own feet. He was becoming as clumsy as Tonks.

"There is some one here who wants to meet you," she said, beaming at him.

“Colin! You have to get out of here!” Lupin shouted as yet another curse flew past the side of his head.

"I can't, Professor," Colin called back, "I want to fight!"

Bits of rubble flew through the air as one of the castle's outer walls came crumbling down. The Giants were rampaging.

"Colin, please!" Lupin shouted, unable t o mask the plea in his voice.
