Remus, feeling anxious about being made prefect, and just recovering from a full moon, arrives at school late. When Peeves frames him for allegedly doing something rude in the library,  he finds himself  in an absurd situation in Filch's office.The other Marauders come to his rescue in typical over the top style and are faced with the news that their partner in crime has new responsiblities.

James, Sirius, and Peter decide to show Remus the progress they have made with their animagus transformations. Peter botches his transformation, gets stuck part way though, and then has a potentially fatal accident.

Peter resurfaces after his ordeal, much to the other Marauder's relief. Bleary from searching all night, James loses the Quidditch match and plays an ugly prank on Snape in response. Remus is forced to put a stop to the scene, culminating in a fight with James and Sirius that threatens to end their friendship.
