Mr. and Mrs. Cooper leave for business knowing that the neighbors would be watching over their daughter. Little did they know, the night they left, Emma's life would be threatened.

Without a hope that things would be better, Emma choked out a sob when his chest rose and fell, steady but weakly. She rolled on her knees and watched intently as he opened his eyes.

"It's going to be okay. I'm here now."

"Lemon drops."

The Headmasters office on the seventh floor was a circular room with large windows overlooking the great view of the mountains just outside the grounds. The walls were adorned with paintings of past headmasters and shelves were filled with books and one peculiar hat. A large desk was centered in the room covered with papers and odd instruments.

"Emma!"
She ran to her parents as they lay in pools of their own blood. Her heart pounded in her chest as she fell to the floor beside them.
"Wake up."
Her green eyes drifted to a man standing before her, one with a malice smile and dark eyes.
"Emma!"
"What have you done?"

"Was it your birthday or something, Emma?" Ginny asked, her face brightened with hope of reason.
She shook her head in response and Hermione questioned Harry. "Well?"
"Well what?" Harry furrowed his eyebrows and took a seat next to Ron.
"Why did you get the owl for her?" Ginny interrupted, as Emma lifted her gaze to see his reaction.
Harry thought quickly, for he didn't want everyone to know his fancy. "How else would she send letters?"

"Interesting, very interesting. Hmm. . ." It started and paused for a moment, searching her brain. "You're very smart, good enough to be a Ravenclaw. Sweet and loyal, would make Hufflepuff proud. Yes. But, bravery is found in your depths." It paused another beat and said suddenly, "Defiantly not Slytherin."

"It's just that - just that I think you're really nice to talk to and you're not to mention - very pretty."
