Ch. # Chapter Title Word Count Reviews
1 Little Black Book

My mother once told me that curiosity killed the cat. The cat may have died an unsatisfied death but it is not curiosity that lures me to this dreaded novel of my life, it is my assignment. My mission, so to speak, and though failure to deliver this book to the Order had not been discussed, I knew innately that I could not fail. Still, I wondered, had I not already failed?

2 Take Your Pick

I felt some emotion in my chest straining to be set free—to lash out at his rude comments but I knew this would be regular treatment from a man of this family. It was regular treatment from mother, why should I have expected better? Besides, in the midst of my fury, there was defeat—because he was right.

3 Don't Be Stupid, Girl

I dutifully blame myself for her lack of laughter and happiness. Obviously, there is no one else that could have caused her unhappiness except I; and she has gracefully admitted several times that I am the bane of her dreadful existence.

4 Laughter in the Halls

Shame spread to my cheeks. What would mother say?  What would a woman do? Except, a woman would never be standing in such a situation. She would never be so openly insulted.
But I wasn't a woman.

5 A Spy in our Midst

Obviously, she had also detected that Professor Slughorn's intentions for holding me after class were not as innocent as he said they were. Her intention to eavesdrop on our conversation was blindly obvious, as one would only expect of a Gryffindor. Her eyes kept darting between Professor Slughorn and I from under the mane of red hair she had let fall in front of her face. I felt very much like informing her how dreadfully obtrusive her presence was but managed to resist.

6 The Restricted Section

"Black!" Severus roared suddenly, I perked up immediately, unsuccessfully trying to pull myself out of Black's grip again, if only to show I was being forcibly detained and that I was adverse to the proceedings.

"Get your bloody hands off of my fiancé!" Severus yelled. Black didn't move. I stepped as far from Black as I physically could with him holding onto me.

"And what if I don't, Snivellus?" Black sneered, the fingers around my arm tightening," I think you're the one who did this to her."

7 Transfigure This

And of course it was only to be predicted that Sirius-Blood-Traitor-Black would have boasted his great victory: saving me from the evil Severus like some knight in shining armor. To which, presumably, I would be the 'damsel in distress' despite how unwilling I was and his apparent ignorance of that blatant fact.

8 Of Questionable Logic

I look sideways, out the window, even though the scenery I see is not real and it's strange because I thought that I had only just seen the Hogwart's grounds outside this window when I had entered but now there are only hills, dark shadowy hills tumbling over each other for miles in each direction. They remind me of the great rolling swells of the ocean just before they can form into foam-lipped waves. I get the distinct feeling that this world outside the window lacks life; that it is as equally baron and dark as the sunless horizon it fades into.

9 Of Midnight Wanderings

I wonder, was it a remarkable insight on your parents' part to name you Rose, or was it simply fate? For surely, no other name could better accompany the sweetness of your letters. I must admit, I have begun to silently rejoice whenever I see that paper-airplane of yours approaching.

10 Poison Me Sweetly

They were still talking inside, spoon-feeding me a corrupted awareness of myself. And the more I tried to convince myself to leave, to ignore them, the louder and clearer I heard their talking until it was as if they were both whispering into my ears, their words, like poison, coursing through my blood, infecting my thoughts, my sight, my limbs, every part of me until I thought my heart would freeze over from the cold.

11 My Tourniquet

"I cannot understand you, girl. Do you think it at all appropriate for a woman engaged to be married to be out fooling around with men other than her betrothed? Do you think that proper?"

12 Inciderious

I feel a sore ache in my chest and wonder with heavy irony if it's my heart. The pain does not go away but rises in waves, flooding my brain.

13 One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

He licks his lips, "They'll come for him soon. Then he'll be gone, and we'll never know."

I glance at him quickly, "Never know what?"

"If there was something we could have done."
