“Ugh!” Marlene all but shouted out, stomping her feet on the ground and throwing her arms up into the air. “Where the bloody hell are they?”  As if they were summoned by Marlene’s cry, the two boys rounded the corner and Marlene shrieked quietly in my ear, grabbing my arm tightly, her fingernails digging into my skin. “Ow,” I whispered back to her. She, of course, ignored me, but still let me go as our dates approached.
