“I don’t know, Mum,” she insisted. “I really can’t remember anything.”

Her mother looked more angered. “How can you not remember anything? You’re telling me you blacked out, when I saw you walking to me with that… thing in your hands!” she snapped in disbelief. “The nerve of you, Rose Weasley! Don’t lie to me.”

Rose’s lower lip trembled in fear. “I’m not lying, Mum,” she said so softly that only she could hear herself.
