“Some popcorn with your evilness?” I asked her, tilting the bag towards her.

“Why yes, thank you,” said Penelope with fake politeness.

“What did he say when you told him all this stuff? And why did you tell him?” asked Alice.

“He understood,” I said, “I mean it was great. He didn’t say sorry or anything.”

She quickly tossed her novel on her bed and grabbed her magazine. She ripped it open to see photographs of ZiZi and Remus kissing.

Lily quickly picked up her phone and texted James:

I told you so.

“Us sounds nice,” I mumbled before sleep over took my body.

“It does,” he said as he kissed the top of my head.

“We kissed,” she said as she looked up at him after a moment of comfortable silence, “You and me… we kissed!”

“I understand if you want to forget about the kiss and pretend it never happened…” said James uncomfortably.
“No, I don’t want to forget about it!” exclaimed Lily sitting up, “It was a great kiss. Do you want to forget about it?”

“No,” said James smiling, “It was a really great kiss.”

“Well the glasses are gone, I charm my eyes,” she said taking a step up the stairs, “And I’m sorry but the old and the new fake Penelope are gone-“

 

“Three Penelopes in one year,” joked Sirius.

 

“and they aren’t coming back,” she said, knowing her voice was about to give out at any moment.

“Bloody Hell!” I exclaimed as I pulled away from him.

“What? What’s wrong?” he asked looking worried.

“My sister is here!” I whispered as I pulled him behind a near by bench.

“Our luggage-“ he started but I shushed him.

“Because- I-“ I said slowly gazing into his loving eyes, “I’m not entirely convinced my mother’s dead.”

“What!” exclaimed James, but a raucous invading the ballroom masked his shout.

“What the bloody-“ I started as we all turned to face the door just as a girl came riding on top of a mouse into the room.

“Uh huh,” said Mrs. Potter slowly, “Is there anything you want to talk about?”

“Have you ever lied to any of your children?” I asked her softly.

“You mean like Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy?” she asked.

I sat with my back against the bathroom door, holding that stupid stick with that stupid pink plus on it, tears streaming down my cheeks. Suddenly there was a huge bang from inside the bedroom.

“Damn it Remus! Just do it already!” she exclaimed, her eyes clamped shut and muscles tensed.

“Do what?” he asked nervously. He knew it was coming; their break up was imminent now.

Sirius shoved him backwards with his left arm and swung at him with his right. Daneil staggered backwards, but Sirius cought him by his popped polar collar and shoved him against the wall.

“That,” he hissed, “Was for James, and this—” he shoved him against the wall again, “is for Lily.”

“Sirius!” she exclaimed in shock.

“You best be on your way,” he said. His left eye started to twitch somewhat violently as he looked between us. “The both of you! Get!”
