Any artificial light would wake Emma up.

And if I woke Emma -- she would kill me. No, I'm not kidding. You bother that light-sleeper during the day; she just smiles and waves it off. At night, she becomes a monster. It's like some sort of werewolf thing but not just at the full moon.

So there I stood, in the dark, blindly feeling my way back into our dormitory.
