It's the first full day of Seventh Year, and James leads the narration as he attempts to hit on Lily.

After daydreaming about the girls in his grade, Sirius is partnered with Lily Evans for Defense Against the Dark Arts (DADA). To James's horror, Sirius and Lily's icy relationship begins to thaw.

It's Halloween, and everyone is going crazy over parties, feasts, and Quidditch Tryouts. Mary watches in surprise as her best friend becomes better acquainted with James, and all of Gryffindor bonds over a bit of Firewhiskey.

As Voldemort terrorizes the Wizarding World, Lily and her friends discuss the highly whispered about Order of the Phoenix. Not all of Lily's focus is on those matters, though: she's got enough on her plate, what between fighting with Robby and fending off the guilt she still feels over ending her friendship with Severus.

It's Gryffindor vs. Slytherin in the latest Quidditch match, and the teams are neck and neck. Remus and Sirius take a few extralegal measures to help James (or Mary?), and wind up sending three students to the Hospital Wing. Singing cherubs, comedic ballads, and uncontrollable mouth-muscle lifting are in store for all.

The students head home for the holidays, and James invites Sirius to celebrate Christmas with the Potter family. After exchanging gifts, they wait for the post to arrive. After hearing from one of the girls from school, one of the boys decides to make a move on the way back to school.

After his date with Josephine hits a downward spiral, Sirius runs into town alone. There, he hits on a few strangers, meets up with a few friends, and gets an unwelcome surprise.

In the penultimate chapter of The Seventh Year, Mary is struck by a series of visions. Afterwards, she has a talk with Sirius, and takes one last walk around the grounds, friends at her side.
