“You think that means anything?” I yelled. “You’ve been gone for years, leaving me with no explanation, leaving your fiancé to think you were a traitor, leaving everyone thinking you don’t deserve to live!”  The fact I was said fiancé meant nothing anymore. That was the past.

“I’ve been in prison!” He yelled back, getting angry himself.

“And whose fault is that?” I asked sharply. Why did I have to say yes? At least I had the decency to throw the ring out.
