“Well, then you and I have very different opinions of nice, Severus!” I hissed, my face pressed inches from his, eyes locked on his. “Very different opinions!”

His whole face seemed to crumple. “Look, Lily, I know you don’t mean that, please just listen to me, Lily!”

But he was too late. I wrenched his hand off my wrist and ran down the corridor, the soles of my shoes pounding the worn-out floor.

But, with James Potter, I can just kiss him back when he tries to kiss me, or dance with him when he grabs my wrist and twirls me around, instead of stalking off. Or I could say, ‘I do love you! How did you guess?’ when he tells me to profess my undying love for him.
