I grabbed for my wand and lit the torches that hung on the walls. “Don’t ever creep in my room, Ron,” I warned as he passed me, grinning.

“Say you don’t want it,” he whispered in my ear, his warm and minty breath erupting goose bumps on my skin.

My cheeks were burning immensely. This was one of those typical moments when you wished for the world to just open up and swallow you whole so you could avoid the shame and embarrassment. The fierce shame and embarrassment I was feeling right now.

I leaned my back to the wall, slowly slipping down onto the floor.

I couldn’t help the tears that were now streaming down my face.

“I don’t want you here. I want you to go away. Go away.”

“You think you can just say ‘abracadabra’, and I’ll vanish? Sorry, love, but that is not the way it works.”

“Just please,” I begged, covering my face with my hands. “Please, just go away!”

As he approached me, I stood still as a rock by the door. His piercing grey eyes sliced into mine, and I felt my breathing become more rigid.

 
 

"Nicely done, Draco," she giggled, and I heard the sound of a knife being withdrawn.

He looked up at me, but now his eyes were like glass. "If I let myself care," he started, his voice lacking so much emotion that I tried to reach for his hand, but he yanked away. "If I let myself care, all I feel is pain."

"Cheer up, I got cake."

"Cake?"

I pressed two fingers to his neck, closing my eyes and hoping with all my might I would find a pulse, but there was nothing. This just couldn't be happening.
