I followed him down the hall and outside into the Entrance Hall and it was only when I turned to face him that I realised he was blushing.
“Neville, we haven’t said anything yet,” I laughed.

“I’m concerned about you. There were Death Eaters there, Neville, and, let’s face it, you’re not that good at magic."

Walking straight past the Slytherins and pulling Neville’s jacket tighter over my shoulders, I skipped to my common room happy with the outcome of our trip to Hogsmeade, finally allowing myself to admit that it was indeed our first date.

As much as I loved him, I did hate him sometimes - especially today.

I could have died right then as a happy teenage girl. Those words were better than the obvious three.

“I love you, Hannah,” he whispered into my ear. My heart jolted for a moment and my soul smiled.
“I love you too,” I whispered back. I knew it now more than ever before.
 
 

 “Neville, I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“I’m not asking for your permission, though, Hannah. I’m going to do it whether you like it or not."

“What are you afraid of?” he asked me softly.
“Death,” I said honestly, eyes still firmly closed as water spilled from the corners. “Not being with you. If anything happened to you, I would die. If You-Know-Who … we might … We can’t, Neville, we have the rest of our lives with each other. We have to grow old.”
