Scorpius shrugged coolly and condescendingly, obviously not perturbed at the fact that he was being, if she could bring herself to define it—sweet to her, “I’m not so much of a git that I insult someone when they’re already…clearly upset.”

 

“Look,” Scorpius stopped walking, “It’s not smart to think too much into this.  Lilith was just crazy.  I don’t think there’s some big conspiracy like we’re trying to find one.  Thinking this over is just going to make us more worried over nothing.”
