She smiles, "You always find something to laugh about, don't you?" she teases me.

“Albus, how can you eat at a time like this?!” I slap Albus' fork out of his hand.

He pulls me closer to his face and stares into my eyes, searching for something. He lets go, satisfied with what he found.

 The girl frowns and grabs onto my hand, “I'm sorry.” Her eyes are filled with tears. 

 “No, I’m fine, really. I just get queasy whenever I think about. . .plants.”

Leo rolls his eyes at me in a playful manner, “Ellie, cats have rights too.”

 

“She’s delightfully judgmental,” Albus says as he falls down into her vacant spot.

 

There’s something thrilling about causing someone else to laugh.

 

I stare at the door after he leaves, reliving every moment of our time together. I can’t help but smile at it all.

 

She nods, “Miserable together and miserable apart,” she answers. 

He jumps off the bed and dances over to the window, pointing to the dark night, “Do you see that? It’s a bird! It’s singing a lovely song. I bet he’s repeating the word ‘yes’ over and over again in his bird language.”

 

I am surrounded by insane people, and yet they treat me as if I’m the insane one.

 

 “Potter, you should focus your energy on getting better, not on your social life,” Pomfrey sniffs, walking back to her office.
