The Great Hall was silent, despite the mass of young witches and wizards it inhabited, only a tall, ancient man with a long white beard and half-moon spectacles stood at a podium in front of them all, smiling mysteriously. Astoria Greengrass had her head on the table, her stomach growling ferociously in hunger, but she had to wait until that old fool, Dumbledore, had finished another one of his nonsensical speeches before she could eat.

Weeks passed uneventfully at Hogwarts. The novelty of being back at school wore off rapidly when the teachers ensured that every fraction of spare time would be taken up with ridiculously long essays and lectures about how OWLs were coming up fast, despite being a year away. It bounced off Astoria meaninglessly though as she drifted through lost in her imagination, sometimes finding herself hoping for the adventure that Trelawney had predicted.
