"It is not unexpected that children fear monsters of the night. Therefore, it would not be unexpected for a child to feel much turmoil if, every so often, they unwillingly transformed into one themselves. This was the unfortunate fate of young Remus Lupin."

The Great Hall was especially boisterous that evening. Earlier in the day, the next Hogsmede trip had been announced. It would be in two weeks- the day after Valentine's Day. While many talked excitedly, at the Gryffindor table, two fourth year boys only contributed their groans.

Remus POV

On the darkened streets below, few people wandered with cautious gaiety to or from their Hallowe'en gatherings. I envied those who, even in the thickness of the war, were making efforts to come together for something good. I did not have such luxuries and on this night, I had nothing to celebrate.

"Remus! Remus, wake up! Something's happened!"

He didn't need pity. He needed for this not to have happened.
