We start off a short way into the actual book. There have been no alterations to the previous three chapters. Also, in this version, I have decided to set the story five years later. So, instead of the events of this book taking place across 1997-98, they actually take place in 2002-03. So in this canon, Harry was born on July 31, 1985. I always felt James and Lily were a bit too young. I felt this was a way to match it with the films, and I also felt it was a good way to have some more modern tweaks in the book too, without making a drastic change to the timeline.

Harry, Ron and Hermione begin to plan their next move.

In which Harry falls for Hermione all over again, and the battle starts for real.

AN: So, there's a change in this chapter which initially was rather throwaway, but I just loved making little tweaks and ultimately, it plays a much more important part in the story than I initially imagined.

I thought the Ministry adventure was well done in the film, so merged it with the book.

The Horcrux Hunt begins...

So, to balance out a huge chapter, now a much shorter one. This is pretty much all of my own invention - but uses inspiration from the book and, clearly, the film in the main. I just couldn't leave this scene out and I hope that this way of having it in works.

The long night begins...

Back to school...

So, from here on in there's going to be a fair mix of book/film. I'd also like to thank a writer called circinusphoenix for influencing me. Their story - Harry Potter and the Oroborus Light - was one of the first fanfics I read... many years ago now, but it's always stuck in my head! There's a homage to the battle scenes in their story in this chapter.

A pretty emotional chapter, and another one I toyed with how to go about it. But the feeling of isolation Harry feels here is key, I think.

Another chapter that took me a few versions to settle on. In the end, it's not that different at all to how it played out in the book, though it could have been very different had I gone ahead with a pretty major change. Perhaps I'll revisit as a One-Shot one day!

So, I'd like to take the time to thank everybody who has read this and HBP. I hope you enjoyed them both.

I have a few ideas for some stories based around this canon. No promises, but I will post them on here if it comes to doing them. I may also look at some one-shots/alternates to this canon, where I can explore some of the paths I decided against taking in these rewrites in order to stick to the main plot.
