Emilie goes back to her daily life, unable to forget about her meeting with Remus.

In which Remus and Emilie have dinner and experience an awkward moment in the hallway. 

Remus felt as though they were no longer talking about Marrisa. He avoided Emilie’s eyes carefully and quickly finished his glass of water. ‘It’s getting late,’ he said awkwardly. ‘I should probably be heading home.’

Remus and David meet briefly, and Emilie and David talk things through.

Remus’s thumb drew feather-light circles the back of her hand, and then he said, softly, ‘Maybe it’s best if... if we see less of each other. If it makes you unhappy.’

Emilie’s breath caught in her throat, and she swallowed before she replied. ‘I’m happiest when I’m with you.’

It was good to be in his arms again, her head against his shoulder, his knees bumping into hers every now and again. ‘Your dancing has improved,’ she said in between Louis Armstrong’s trumpet solos.

He laughed whole-heartedly. ‘I should hope so.’
