James remembers his first day at Hogwarts and ... the first time he meets Lily. “What are you looking at?” the girl taunted sharply. “If you take a picture it will definitely … last longer.” The girl was the shortest of the three. She had thick red hair which haloed her face and her eyes were flashing in annoyance. With all thoughts of the dare driven from his mind James mustered his courage to speak. He stood up and walked forward till he was face to face with the girl. (The chapters will be narrated by James or Lily alternatively.)

For the first year or so, James had ignored the obvious. He couldn’t believe that he had fallen in love already. So he dated other girls. But by third year he had given in to fate and told his friends the truth - that he wanted Lily Evans and no one else.

James couldn’t believe that he had just poured his heart out to Lily Evans. He, James Potter, had just poured his heart out to the girl he loved. Bugger all. Lily Evans. Why did she have to be so pretty, so easy to talk to. Well, she was easy to talk to when she wasn’t screaming, arguing, fighting or ignoring him.

Lily Evans.  Such a pretty name.  Sigh.  No. Boys should not sigh, it is not very masculine.  What would Lily think if she saw James Potter sighing?  What would she think?  What would she say?  “Pot- James,” said a predictably familiar voice, “Why are you sighing?”

“She hugged me!” James yelled to his friends the next day.  In comparison to Lily, James had no trouble, telling his friends about the events which took place in the classroom against the wall.
