Hermione was independent, that was true. But she had to be. She was a muggle-born witch in a Pureblood’s world. If she wanted to survive at Hogwarts, amongst hundreds of pureblooded witches and wizards, she’d have to be able to hold her own. So, she kept up with her work and avoided situations that would pull her in to the blood controversy.
