What happens when James steals Lily's bag?

“OH! He’s dead!” I said harshly, voicing my exact thoughts. I was walking…well jogging…okay I was sprinting like an insane woman about to commit homicide up, to the common room.

“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!” Alice said as she pulled me to a stop. I looked at her sharply “How about instead of um, killing James you just ignore him…I’m sure that will drive him nuts.”

Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. *cue dramatic music*

“I just need to talk to her, make sure she’s okay.” Potter said as I opened my eyes. It was dark now.
 
I got up, it didn’t hurt as bad as before, and opened the door just a bit.
 
“She almost got killed James, killed, by some one she thought she knew, how would you be?” Alice said a little quieter
 
“She needs me” he muttered

“What could dear Lily be hiding under her hands? I’m curious, very curious, and I think everyone else is too.” He stated. Alice was silently laughing. Remus was looking disapprovingly as usual. Peter looked like he was going to pee his pants from the excitement.
 
“How right you are Padfoot!” James looked from Sirius to me.
 
“No, no, no, no, no, get away from me Potter,” Sirius came up next to him. “You too Black, stay away.”

I creaked open the gate and…
 
“Going somewhere?”

“Oh! Um hi Potter! I just w-wanted to uh-fully appreciate the-um-true splendor of your backyard.” I said feebly
 
“And you had to sneak out of the bathroom window to do so?” he said haughtily

“Yes. Anyway I thought I should pay you a visit-”
 
“-At 1 o’clock in the morning.” I stated again. “ I just saw you like 6 hours ago.”
 
“But darling,” his eyes twinkling as he dramatically placed his hands over his heart “2 hours away from you feels like a lifetime, you can’t even imagine what 6 hours does to me.”

Basically, a sad Lily and a James who tries to cheer her up!

“ENOUGH!” yelled McGonagall. “This is ridiculous. 10 points from Gryffindor and detention for the both of you.”
 
“But Professor,” I gasped. “I can’t have detention. I’ve never had a detention.” We didn’t do anything truly wrong.
“I’m sorry Miss Evans. I can’t just let this go unpunished. You’re lucky I didn’t take your badges away. Mr. Potter,” she turned from my mournful face to James’s rather carefree one. “Same place, Same time.”

The Masuearde Ball has arrived, and James, yet again, has a flawless plan to win the fair Lily's heart.

“James?” I asked again after a while.

“Yeah.”

“Erm- we’re not doing something crazy right?”

I could hear the amusement in his voice, a good change from the formally tense mood. “Define ‘crazy’.”

I gulped. Oh Shizz. “Something that is so mentally deranged and insane that it has the potential to bring my very short life to an end...?”

She had a hand over her mouth and a glass of orange juice was broken on the floor. I slowly slid off the bed and stood up, not meeting her eyes. James got off the floor and did the same.

Then he slid a hand through his hair. Potter nervous habit. Not such a hotshot now, are ya? “Ha…ha. Hey mum. Uhm-I was just…er…haha…well, you see…uhm…“
