Hermione breaks up with Ron and hears unfortunate news from her parents. Who else to tell than a Weasley twin?

“Ron, wait,” She turned to face him.

“That’s what I asked you to do, and you didn’t do it,” he looked at her blankly.

“No, that’s not what it was!” She held his arm in both of her hands, looking up at him.

“Well, Hermione, I really don’t want to know what ‘it’ was,” he glared down at her. She opened her mouth to respond but he pulled his arm from her grasp and stormed out the door.

At about two in the morning, something caused Hermione to wake up. It was no longer storming but she heard movement coming from the kitchen. The, as her body slowly woke up, she realized there was someone in the bed with her. She looked; it was Fred. The memory of kissing him entered her mind. But she was convinced that it was only a dream. She would never kiss Fred Weasley! She loved Ron!

“Dear, I’m not sure if I’ve heard you correctly. I could have sworn you just said that you’re with Fred now. . .” Mrs. Weasley trailed off when she noticed Hermione’s crimson blush. “You are, aren’t you?” She began to fidget with the hem of her blouse.

Harry swore loudly, knowing that it could only mean something bad. Hermione quickly opened the window and each of them received a letter. Harry’s was from Lupin, Ginny’s was from Mrs. Weasley, and Hermione’s was from Fred. She ripped it open quickly. Fred’s writing was sloppy and slanted as if he had written in a hurry.

“Good morning, Ronald,” Fred greeted him cheerfully.

Ron scowled at his older brother’s smiling face. He looked in to see Hermione pretending to read over a parchment on Fred’s bed. “I’ve been knocking for ages, did you not hear me?” He asked, looking back at his brother.

“Nope. The room was silenced,” Fred said simply.

Ron looked horrified and disgusted. Hermione held back a nervous giggle. “Erm, well, breakfast is worried and Mum is ready about you. . . I mean breakfast is ready and Mum is worried.”

Hermione looked up at Fred with a horrified expression. “Will we be cursed?” she mouthed. There was a great possibility that as soon as they walked out the door, they’d be cursed or hexed. Neither had thought or planned that previously.

She looked directly at Harry and Ron. Both were gripping each other’s arms and had their eyes closed. Their chests rose and fell rapidly as they fought not to look at their broken friend. She saw them and began to cry.
