While visiting Hogsmeade with the rest of the school, Draco Malfoy has no idea the trip is going to change his life forever. When he is met by a messenger in the Hog's Head Inn bearing a message from his mother, Draco goes to meet her at the Shrieking Shack. Her message urges caution, and for good reason. Going to meet her, Draco finds that there such things as a fate worse than death

After weeks of rumour and speculation, Draco and Ginny's secret slips out during a near brawl between Slytherin and Gryffindor houses. Trying to deal with feelings of guilt is he unaccustomed to, Draco seeks out Ginny, and learns the reason why she saved his life. Draco discovers, to his displeasure, that there is nothing at all simple about the question "Why?".

The holidays are over, and everyone is heading back to Hogwarts. The spring term awaits, full of classes, finals, and of course, Quidditch.
