Ch. # Chapter Title Word Count Reviews
1 I have to get out

I thrust my wrist under the warm water. I feel the sting on my wrist and smile at the pain. I watch the water run a rose color after touching my skin. My mind fills with thoughts of my past and my present and I want to pick the blade up again. My fingers twitch as I think about it.

2 The Trip

My feet find their way down the stairs leading from the train to the floor. Right as I’m about to take the last step and put my feet on the floor when I come face to face with a hard, flat warmth. My hands instantly fly up in front of me, pushing myself away from whatever I hit. I swing my head to the side slightly to move my long bangs away from my eyes and look up to meet the gaze of cold gray eyes.

3 Meeting The Head Girl

She stands up from her lounge chair and takes a ratty old hat down from a shelf along the wall. I look at it strangely and she sets it on my head before I can do anything. But to my horror, before I can reach up, throw it off my head, and ask what the hell she thinks she’s doing and who the hell she thinks she is, it starts talking. My mouth opens wide in shock as I feel it moving around.

4 Real Food That Can't Stay

I follow the crowd to the common room and quickly head for the bathroom in the girl’s dormitories. I go into a stall and kneel beside the porcelain bowl. I heave a bit until I can feel the warm liquid rise in my throat. I force the bile out and puke the food and fat into the toilet. Then I hear a soft knock on the stall door.

5 Eyes That Just Seem to Stay Glued

And then I feel it: the prickle on the back of my neck, telling me that someone’s looking at me.

6 Worried? About Me?

My wrist itches, but I can’t scratch it without pulling up my sleeve. So I try to ignore it. But the stupid itch won’t go away. So I scratch over the sleeves.
“Shit.” I mutter as I see fresh blood start to ooze through and stain the shirt…
…He leans to my ear and whispers, “Um, Kelsey, Ginny’s really worried about you.”

7 The Meeting

…I look in front of me and see a boy, working to get up. I hurriedly get to my feet. He has an angry expression playing on his face and I feel my insides churn.
“I am so sorry!” I say quickly. “I didn’t see you. I mean, I wasn’t really paying attention. I mean… I’m sorry.”…
…“No, I wasn’t watching where I was going.” He says, straightening up. He looks me over. “You new here?”

8 Oops, I did it Again… And Got Caught

…I search around my trunk until I find it: my best friend and my worst enemy. I pick it up and run to the bathroom. I pull up my sleeve and run the blade across my wrist. Too many times to count...
