“I gave you goosebumps?” he asked me, rhetorically of course, with a genuine, crooked smile breaking across his face. Before I could even open my mouth to respond, he had already turned and walked away, and I was left at my seat bright red and wide mouthed.

“You are bloody crazy! Why on earth would I choose to date a filthy mudblood like Granger?” he spat. His words knocked the wind out of me.

All of Harry's actions were going through my head; the note he had given me, his warning, I couldn't help but admit that he had been right about everything.

I stared at him with wide eyes as I let my hands slide carefully down his neck, exploring the welts and bruises that continued down to his broad shoulders.

Even though I knew they were coming, the words hit me with a force that left me gasping for air. When Draco slowly let go of my hand, the world stopped.

“I don’t think I can make you happy,” he admitted sadly as I frowned at him. “Not like this.”

My mum paused before continuing. “We both know you can’t Draco. I know why you did all of those things. Because that is who you are,” she responded with determination in her voice.

“I can barely say goodbye to you, even though you were still going to be standing right beside me under that cloak,” he said in a hopeless tone. I couldn’t move as he gave me one last soft kiss on the lips; it was too depressing to move, speak, or function. Without him, I wasn’t whole.

After calling his name, many people had stopped to watch what was unfolding in the hallway, but I could care less. My eyes were only on one person. My mind was focused on one thing.

I watched the way his lips pouted when he frowned. I watched how he cocked his head to the side in worry. I watched the way he analyzed my face for an answer. For the first time in a long time, I felt safe.

I could kiss him without thinking twice and touch him without worrying about who was watching.  It was in these moments that we were the happiest.
