He laughs again, sitting down on the seats opposite to me. “I’m Sirius by the way,” he says to me. “Sirius Black.” 

He’s got a nice laugh this Sirius guy don’t you think?

You’re still here?

Wait, I’m not going to talk to a voice in my head! Isn’t one of the signs of madness talking to you? I told mum going to Hogwarts would make me crazy! I’m not even there yet and look; I’m already talking to myself.

“Shorty huh?” he asks me.

I roll my eyes. “It's not my favourite nickname.”

“So does that mean I can’t use it?” he asks me grinning.

I shrug. “I can’t use Padfoot can I?”

He laughs. “Touché”

I’m not jealous.

Whatever the voice might tell you I can assure you that I am not jealous.

I’m not remotely affected by the fact that Sirius has a girlfriend or the fact that she’s a leggy blonde bimbo.

No really, I’m not.

“I think my head is gonna pop.” I say groggily.

Lily nods. “Yep, me too I- wait a minute.” She looks carefully at me and Maddie and then back at herself. “Why are we wearing our bras on top of out t-shirts from last night?”

Me and Maddie shrug while the Marauders snigger behind us. We turn around and eye them carefully. They know something that we obviously can’t remember and don’t know.

“Spit it out.” snaps Lily.

“Could you have a bigger ego?” I ask him.

He pouts childishly and lowers me down in a dip, a very low dip. “You love it really.” he whispers, his face dangerously close to mine.

“Why do you let him ruin your life?” he asks with worry in his voice. “Why do you let him do this to you? How many times do I have to see you cry because of him?”

James leans over and whispers in my ear “Leticia Morris, Ravenclaw slag and known as ‘Titi’ by nearly every boy that went in a broom closet with her, including Padfoot.”

I stop myself from gagging right there and then.

A sudden laughter vibrates in the room. Chills run down my spine as the noise makes contact with my ears and I shudder slightly in fear. I manage to somehow sit up as I watch the walls in front of me melt away and leave nothing but another layer of black metal panels. The light dims considerably as I try to crawl on my knees towards it but it just seems to fade further and further away in the distance.

Why can’t I reach it? 

"Fine, it wasn’t Danielle Slater.” He stops handing his head in his hands in complete guilt. “It was Maddie ok?”

Well at least now – wait WHAT?

Sirius’ mouth falls open. “YOU SLEPT WITH MADDIE?!?!”

“But I don’t understand,” Lily continues. “You just suddenly stopped talking and you won’t tell me why.”

“Lily for God’s sake, I told you, we got into an argument end of!”

Emma does the one thing I hate the most especially early morning on a cold winter’s day.

She pulls my bed covers off of me.

“You haven’t figured it out yet, have you? Why do you think, Amy? They told me to, obviously! They told me to get into a relationship with you, they told me to get involved with you. I was just following orders.”

“Ever read the Tales of Beedle the Bard?” I ask.

“Course I did.”

“What was it that gave the three Peverell brother’s their gifts?” I ask him.

Sirius manages to understand. “You think the ghost thing was Death?”
