Oh my god. I actually just used the phrase 'lost in his gaze' in a serious thought. 
I may have to go and hurl.

How was I supposed to act when I next saw him? Cool and indifferent? Keen and desperate? Like a complete twit? Well I suppose the latter would be more like the normal me…
Shut up, brain.

"Give me the sheet."
"Don't you think it's a little late to be thinking about your modesty, Dee?" 
"Give me the sheet, git-face."
"I love it when you sweet-talk."

“You know me,” I smiled sardonically, “Can’t get enough of… the…” I squinted at the blackboard, “…draught of living death.” 
Excellent.
That didn't sound at all morbid or creepy.

“Look!” Londy snatched the card from my bag and brandished it about.
“Oi!”
“What does it say, then?” Blakely asked, thoroughly entertained.
Londy jumped onto the bench as if preparing to read it aloud. Have I mentioned how sensitive and kind my team-mates are?
“Oh.” She looked stumped. “Nothing.”
“Ah! Sending a card then are we, Little McKinnon?” Ro grinned wickedly.
“No!”...

“You’re dong it.” She accused.
I choked on my own spit. “Pardon?”
“You’re doing it.” She repeated, louder.
I cast a glance around the room and saw that our dorm-mates had frozen in their morning routines with scandalised looks on their faces.
“Londy!” I hissed, “I am not doing anything,” I reassured the two shocked girls. They weren’t convinced

“Oh come on, Deb,” James said, “I thought it was obvious.”
We’re doomed. They totally knew. And they were going to hate us forever for not telling them. Quite ironic really… on the day that we were going to tell them…

I stood stupidly between the two of them when no one replied. 
“Okey-dokey, I’ll lead the way.” 
Okey-freaking-dokey? I was definitely well on the way to having a nervous breakdown.

“What, you haven’t even thought about it? What am I supposed to do, wait? Wait until you do know, is that it?” His voice was raised. 
Why did he raise his voice? Was shouting supposed to make me know sooner? 
“I hang around until you decide otherwise? It’s not fair. Listen, Dee, we need to sort this out. Either we sort this out now or...” 

“If the next word out of your mouth is ‘love’ the next thing in it will be my foot.”
