We all shared a smile, it was obvious Albus and Tia liked each other but they had never talked about their feelings, I felt a hand on mine and looked down and saw that it was James's, he was laughing and joking with Joey, I smiled to myself and squeezed his hand, he turned to me and grinned.

Oh god, the Boy-Who-Lived will probably curse me with the wand that killed Voldemort, I'm so dead!

But when I heard my name, my heart leaped and all my friends shrieked and clapped for me, but when I heard Eve's name called, I felt this savage, jealous feeling creep out of nowhere and I turned to her, she was smiling and looking quite proud of herself but in that moment when our eyes met, we both glared at each other ...

This was war.

James nodded "Listen, I was thinking that tonight-"

"Alix, I found the girls!" it was Ami with Tia and Devon in tow. 

"Tonight your obviously busy" James chuckled, "I'm sorry James" I whispered as the girls came close, "but they need me, they've always made time for me and I need to repay it". 

James looked at me and smiled "We all need you, Alix Halliwell".

They both stood in silence, they both looked as if they wanted to say more but they both did nothing.

"You can't charm us with your little wedges of caramel" he picked one up and looked at it scornfully "probably doused with alchol to make the people think they are tasty" he took a little bite and his eyes lit up.

I scarpered, and hid behing a revolving display of shoes. I needed to get out of there, it was obvious that they needed to be alone. They both sat down on the couch and started to talk, I could just see them through the gap in the gladiator shoes when the revolver started to move, "Hey!" I hissed, "I'm looking here-"

It was Eve.

I stood up not caring if I was facing one of the Wizarding World's Saviour, one of my Best Friends Dad's or my boyfriend's uncle.

Or the fact I was wearing an Cookie Monster t-shirt that said "Yummy Yummy"!

Dad shook his head, "I'm sorry Alex there is no cure". I let out a strangled sob, I couldn't let it out because that meant I had given up and I hadn't "Don't say that Dad, please" I was begging him, as if him promising there was a cure one would magically appear, "please Daddy, please" I cried.

 "That is such a girl thing to say"

Okay, I admit it I can be a little ... standoffish at times.

 "But what if I fall?"
"I'll be right there to pick you up again".

 I froze, and in that moment, I did something stupid but at the moment it made me feel like a Rebel. "Professer, I'd rather burn in hell and be Voldemort's secretary for eternity then apologise to her"

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, “At least the truth will be out, and I won’t be thinking ‘what if’ for the rest of my life”.

 
 

I held the heart in my hand and squeezed it hard, this was the first time I had worn it. Pretty strange occasion, trying to win my boyfriend back.
