Dinner gets awkward and Devon has a shocking revelation to make.
 
 
 

 “Oh you’re seriously thinking about this cooker?” Ginny made a pained face as she opened the oven door, “it isn’t that big in there at all, how are you meant to be making proper meals with this thing”.

“So you’re all prepared for colic, huh?” 

 “Hey, its Guy Fawkes night next week, fireworks should be good” I said cheerily trying to diffuse the tension.


“I think James has seen enough fireworks” Lily said


“Unless it ends in a bang because of a certain someone”

“Exactly, so be a good friend, and get your glad-rags on” Lucas said, “Don’t be an Eve Adams”
 
 
 

“Don’t go all full names on me woman, I think I am entitled to be upset if shes now engaged to the ferret!”


“Please take no notice, Scorpius”


Scorpius, instead of being offended had an amused look on his face, “No problem,” he smirked to Rose, “Dad’s just being awkward”

 

“Oh please shes Ron and Hermione Weasley’s daughter and niece of the chosen one” I said rolling my eyes and laughing “they’ll fall over themselves to make it happen”
 

When it came to closing time that felt even worse at least at work I was kept busy, not drifting about the flat by myself.

So tonight, I would do something different.

I would get drunk … and THEN drift about the flat.

 
 
 

I tapped my fingers tunelessly against the cup, “How do you deal with it?” I asked softly, “I feel like I’m constantly fighting the tears when I talk about him”


Uncle Ricky looked down “There’s no secret Alix, we all have to deal with it in our own ways”

 

“Uncle Ricky, what’s wrong?” I asked slowly, I noticed that Ginny had been crying and Harry looked very grave.


“Alix, mabye we should go home and talk” Uncle Ricky said, he pressed his lips together “it might be better if-“
 

I entered the kitchen and I gasped when I saw a young Grandpa Jack sitting at the same table we had now, reading the paper but the sight that made tears come to my eyes was the woman wearing a green dress with a white apron on top and who looked like my Mum completely, standing at the sink doing the dishes.
 

“Not too bad,” Dad said putting his arm around her, “and no not even Alix hurt herself which itself is a miracle”
