“Sirius broke up with me... Chloe,” I whispered for fear that my voice would break and show further weakness. “Just tell me it’s going to be okay.”
 

A part of me was crying out that he loved me too, I knew it. People could not fake the way that Sirius Black looked at me, kissed me. He loved me, my heart cried.
 
But now I knew, my poor, broken heart was just in-denial.
 
 

I love her, so I have to do this.

 Fine.  It was the generic safe answer I’d taken to over the summer.  After the sleepover it was as if the girls expected me to be magically healed from the breakup.  They were surprised by anymore tears and bothered when I brought up his name, so “I’m fine” became my bandage.  The words that I was hoping if I said enough, their name would eventually be carried out and applied to my real feelings.

 The next morning Chloe awoke with a brilliant idea: She would be friends with Emma, but just to become friends with Sirius.

 So I listened to Gerald pour his heart out to me and suddenly describe every vivid moment from his recollection.  Meeting her, falling in love, and watching her fall in love with the same loser for the past three years just to get her heart ripped out before he finally realized that he needed to fight for her.

While I knew that it wasn’t me, I was also not prepared for who it really was.
