Jason Allen and Sirius Black were both under my skin for completely different reasons and right at that moment, I hated them both. I collapsed onto my bed, pulled the curtains closed and let myself cry for a bit.

“Detention! All three of you!” McGonagall's voice rang out over the Great Hall as she hurried towards us.

“What? What did I do?” I shouted at her. Oops. You're not supposed to shout at a teacher. I was fairly annoyed though so I couldn't stop myself.

“Language!” she barked back at me. Fantastic.

 

That reminded me. “How do you know?”

She snorted. “It's obvious. He's ill every month on the full moon. It wasn't difficult to work out.”

“He's like my family,” I had to drive this point home to her. “If you can't accept what he is -”

“There's nothing wrong with him!” she defended him instantly. “He can't help it, as if he'd choose to go through that every month.”

Then I'd finished Hogwarts and I was returning to my flat for the first time since last summer. All her stuff would still be there. The bed would still smell of her. Her make up would still be by the mirror. And I wouldn't move any of it. I felt like half of myself was missing.
