Ch. # Chapter Title Word Count Reviews
1 Beginnings

We meet the three stories that will converge.

"The Doctor looked at them, pulled out his sonic screwdriver and began to scan them. He looked at them again and pronounced, 'Hello people who have met Harry Potter before. How may I help you?'"

2 The TARDIS

Time passed as the students continued to ponder the strange man in front of them. Then Albus asked the relevant question. “What are you?”

“I’m a Time Lord,” the Doctor said as if it were obvious.

Rose gasped. “I’ve read about you! I thought Time Lords were just legend. Unsubstantiated rumors without evidence even!”

3 The Abbey

Charlie laughed and closed the door. She turned to Fred who was surveying the mansion in front of them. It was an extremely large square building with a towering structure coming out of the middle. It was a beautiful building.

“What did the Doctor say this place was?” asked Charlie.

“Downton Abbey, home of Lord and Lady Grantham, our hosts,” answered Fred. “Do you know how we’re getting into this party?”

4 Thomas's Observations, a Talk With Lady Mary, and Fred's Flirting

“He took me on an adventure that night,” said Lady Mary, a far away look in her eyes. “He took me to see the Abbey, a thousand years in the future. It brought me so much hope for my son and my family. We would live on. I even got to meet descendants of mine.”

5 Interruptions at Dinner

Suddenly, there was another noise, this time coming from inside the room.

“Sorry!” said the Doctor, pulling out a funky little widget. “It’s my thing that goes ding when there’s stuff!”

“You’re lucky I like you, Doctor Smith,” called Lord Grantham from across the table.

6 Morphic Residue

The Doctor knelt down over the body and pulled a magnifying glass out of his jacket pocket. He handed it to Albus. “Look for clues.”

“Where?”

The Doctor threw his hands up in exasperation. “I don’t know. That’s what Sherlock always says! This isn’t exactly my forte!”

7 Good Cop, Bad Cop

Lady Mary nodded. “Yes. He said that the substance he found was ‘morphic residue.’ According to him, ‘morphic residue’ is secreted when a creature changes shape or form.”

“The murderer’s an alien?” sighed Charlie.

Smiling slightly, Lady Mary nodded. “Of course it is. And it’s a shapeshifter.”

8 The Murder Files

Charlie hesitated. “We have a suspect, but you won’t like who it is.”

“Are you sure you want to know?” added Albus. “We can figure out what to do next.”

“Well, I have to know now,” said Lady Mary. “The suspense alone would kill me.”

9 A Murderous, Shape Shifting Noblewoman

"We have an alien to catch! But first I need to make a phone call!"

The Doctor ducked around the corner, leaving everyone behind. They all stared blankly after him.

"He doesn't even have a phone," pointed out Charlie.

"And the house phone is that way," said Lady Mary, pointing in the opposite direction of where the Doctor had run off.

10 Investigation Part One: Thomas, Scorpius, and Albus

Thomas paused at the ruined chandelier, shaking his head. “When the Dowager Countess finds out about this…”

“They can fix it,” said Albus, shrugging.

“It’s the principle of it,” said Thomas. “Downton has survived many years without fire or any other destruction. She’ll see it as the beginning of the end.”

11 Investigation Part Two: The Doctor, Charlie, Rose, and Fred

“So,” said Fred. “Do you have any ideas what this alien is?”

“I have some guesses,” said the Doctor. “Definitely a shapeshifter which narrows it down to a couple hundred species. But one that can duplicate human… Which leaves us with a couple dozen… Operating in this sector… a dozen or so… I would have to run some tests…”

“Why didn’t you do this while you were gone for five weeks?” asked Rose exasperatedly.

The Doctor sent her an affronted look as they exited the room. “That would’ve been rude to Thomas.”

12 Before the Battle

The Doctor smiled at the five students before him. “It’s been an honor.”

13 The Battle for the Abbey

"That has to be the Zygon. She's far too hideous to be the real Edith," said Lady Mary matter-offactly.

The four friends were staring at Lady Edith who was staring back at them from a couple of stairs down from them. It had been she making the loud noise beneath them a couple of minutes earlier.

14 After the Battle

15 Summer at the Abbey

"We can't forget those who defended the Abbey with their lives."

Lord Grantham turned his eyes down. "Yes. Barrow and the two sisters. Did we lose anyone else?"

16 Epilogue

The Doctor smiled sadly. “You five are some of the bravest teenagers I’ve met. I’m honored to have spent a summer with you.”

“Our summer at the Abbey,” said Rose, smiling. “We’ll remember it forever. Thank you, Doctor.”
