This started out as a story of how the Marauders discovered Remus's illness and was orignally envisioned as a comedy. Although it does maintain some of those comedic elements it somehow became more of an exploration of the Marauder's friendship and especially how Peter fit into the group.

James offers Peter the chance to become a Marauder if he completes a given challenge. Sirius, James, and Remus encounter Moaning Myrtle in a certain prefect's bathroom. Remus 'visits his mother' again, but before leaving helps mastermind a plot to blow several toilets to glory

Peter discovers Remus in the infirmary and tells James and Sirius who begin putting two and two together. They plot to prove their theory by sneaking into the infirmary at night. Snape catches them and a fight ensues.

This is the conclusion in which Siruis has an accident with Fawkes, Peter saves the day by crying convincing tears, Remus recieves his nickname, and the Marauders begin plotting to become animagi.
