Harry decides to take her to Dumbledore who tells them both that it was time they were finally let in on the truth.

Harry and Hermione barely escape a strange encounter with Snape, but can they swallow the strange truth of the mysterious magic man who has appeared in their midst? Meanwhile, Ginny receives a mysterious letter and Luna continues to hunt for the memory ball, but will she think to look right under their very noses?

With the memories of the Hogwarts students restored, Ginny and the other Gryffindor students prepare to mount a resistance to Umbridge's regime, but the Death Eaters have a far more sinister plan of their own to make sure that no one is left alive to tell the truth.

With the fate of Ron, Neville, and Seamus still uncertain, Ginny is smuggled away to a house-elf village where she is reunited with Dumbledore; meanwhile, in the bubble world, Sirius tries to persuade Harry and Hermione that their memories of their crimes are false, but his task proves difficult; and the world turns upside down for Snape when he has not one unexpected visitor but two....

As Ron and the remainder of the Order prepare for their long trek to save the wizarding world, Sirius desperately tries to trap Harry and Hermione's memories before they are erased once again.

Sirius races to complete Harry and Hermione's training so that they can break out of St. Brutus's before Voldemort can pull him back beyond the veil; meanwhile, Ginny tries desperately to make her way to the Lake District, but she can't shake the feeling that she's being watched; Ron and the Order continue their Long March to Voldemort's base but it soon becomes obvious that there is a traitor in their midst. As Malfoy reveals the true horror of his final plans, Ginny realizes she may be the only one left alive who can stop him and save the world from destruction, but locked in a cell with no doors, how can she begin to even contemplate escape?

As Malfoy tortures he and Ginny, Harry discovers the horrible secret of what really happened to her years ago in the Chamber of Secrets. Meanwhile, the bubble world begins to collapse around St. Brutus's with no exit in sight.

Snape closes in on Voldemort's lair; not listening to his instructions, Ron and Hermione follow him; Ginny continues to climb the gateway and Harry follows her; minutes remain until Voldemort's armageddon. Can he be stopped and , if so, at what price?

Returning to a restored Hogwarts, Harry receives an unexpected offer from Dumbledore, but he refuses to plan for a life without Ginny even as he fears to hope that she may yet return. Meanwhile, while coming to terms with his own guilt and grief, Ron realizes that he has put one thing off for far too long.

Thirteen years after the death of Voldemort, Harry continues to reflect with Dumbledore on all that was gained and lost. Continues the events of the first chapter.
