"Can someone tell me what the hell this briefing is all about? Or can I please go back to what I was doing - something important like researching more about Ancient technology?" Dr. Rodney McKay stood inside the meeting room, sulking at the un-called meeting.
"Give your ego a rest McKay and no you may not go back to what you were doing, you know too much as it is" Elizabeth Weir strolled to her seat while McKay shook his head.
It was another day in Atlantis where everything rolled fine. It was a beautiful December, afternoon. To be precise, December the 20th, only five days till Christmas.
"So I called the meeting because I thought we could do something we've never done before and I thought it'd be cool because we had a bad year and all..." Elizabeth tried to finish her sentence but was cut off.
"Skip to the end" John Sheppard groaned. He hated Elizabeth's long sentences.
"Fine. Secret Santa!" She grinned and looked around at everyone's expression, just as she thought, shocked faces.
There was a small pause and finally Ronon Dex, the ex-military, Satedan spoke up.
"What's this secret Santa?" He asked, while the Athosian beside him, Teyla Emmagen gave a shy smile.
Rodney Sighed, "Its this little, traditional, well not really traditional, but people from Earth like to give small gifts to each other and they act as if they're Santa Claus. They put everyone's name into a hat, which to my opinion really stupid, but anyway, each person picks out a name and they have to give a gift to the person they picked out but they cant say who it was they got."
"What he said" Sheppard nodded.
Meanwhile, Ronon looked at the table in front of him trying to take in all the information.
"So you're saying we're giving each other presents?" Teyla asked.
"Yes. And being the nice organised person that I am, I've already prepared the names and put them into a hat." Elizabeth reached under the table to bring up a small cap that had little scrunched up pieces of paper in it.
"Right-io, pick a name, get a gift for them and don't tell. And if you pick your own name, put it back in." She smiled and got out of her chair and went around the room letting people take a piece of paper from the hat, hearing the small moans and glee's of her fellow crew.
"And where do we get these gifts can I ask?" Teyla looked up from her piece of paper and looked at Elizabeth with concern.
"Well, obviously were surrounded with water for one thing, and we wouldn't be able to go to Earth for a reason like this. So it's either hand-make it or spiff up something you already have or even something from off world but nothing that's alive." Elizabeth smiled and reached under the table again, getting a small pile of papers.
"These are rules. If you want a successful secret Santa game then I suggest you follow them." She handed them the pieces of paper.
"We know how this goes! Can I please leave now?" Rodney got out of his seat and headed for the door.
"Yes, you can leave now" Elizabeth nodded and smiled.
"Actually, wait, I've got something to say." Rodney stopped.
"Oh, now what?!" Sheppard stood up.
"It's our first Christmas without Carson." Rodney sighed and left the room.
