The Curtis' Brothers Poems
These poems provided entertainment as they neared the end of the long gray months of early January-early March they had all endured together
Darry (age 21) (Please note The Cherry Tree is a restaurant; Darry also has a touch of OCD):
"Y'all and me at The Cherry Tree, The Cherry Tree, The Cherry Tree
Y'all and me at The Cherry Tree-"
Soda (age 18) "And what about it?"
Darry "To have chocolate cake and a cup of cherry tea."
Soda: "The season's first snow and ice
Are always very nice
Yet dragging on for months
It's almost worse than lice
That's when dreaming of Niceville, Florida is not a vice."
Ponyboy (age 15): "Sands and oceans of gold
A cove of sparkling round gems of silvery crystal
A grove of rainbow sugar cube trees up the trail
With singing flowers of yellow, pink and blue."
