Hi folks! To those who are my subscribers, I'd like to say thank you for continuing to read my fanfics over the years. To those who are just reading this, I am glad to see people want to do this. I've been hoping to get this off my chest and I also want to see how others would do this sort of thing before I do. So here goes.
Over the years since I've become a fanfic reader and writer, I have always been fascinated by crossover fanfics. Crossovers always have one brilliant idea after another; but sometimes I think the ideas are a flop and just never work out. I've seen crossovers ranging from Pokémon and Naruto crossovers, to movie parodies featuring characters of multiple anime, cartoons, etc. One author, Dragon-Raptor, has even crossed Zoids with a video game known as Earthsiege, a game I had never even heard about until he introduced it. But that was just the first in a series of crossovers that later added Firefly and the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica.
It's because of this crossover series that I was thinking, what if someone crossed the original BSG with OTHER stuff? So, after looking around some crossover sections, I noticed that Star Trek and Babylon 5 are the most common crossovers with this series. The one thing I have only seen the 2003 Battlestar Galactica get crossed over with that the original never gets, is Star Wars. And that is my challenge! I want to challenge Star Wars fans that have seen the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica, to make a crossover with Star Wars.
Now I have a few guidelines to this challenge, though.
1. The story has to take place AFTER the Battle of Yavin, so NO PREQUEL STUFF!! You can include mentioning of the prequel era, as well as feature flashbacks, but that's it!
2. You must see or have seen the ORIGINAL 1978 Battlestar Galactica ALL THE WAY THROUGH in order to make this crossover. I will not accept crossovers with the 2003 Battlestar Galactica series.
3. You must be a Star Wars fan and have an understanding of the Expanded Universe as well as include events during the Expanded Universe.
Now, other than those guidelines, the rest of how you write the story is entirely up to you. I don't care WHEN the story takes place, except that it must follow the first guideline. So get writing folks!
