Hearth's Warming Eve was approaching fast in the land of Equestria. Snow covered the land in soft white sweeps. The flakes fell gently against the light of the morning sun.Fluttershy was in her cottage feeling slightly bored; all of her animals were hibernating for the winter. But something did have her excited.

Today, the day before Hearth's Warming Eve, she was supposed to spend the day with her very special friend. Who was this pony? None other than Discord. Though Fluttershy knew it was a bit strange, she could not help but feel joyful. Discord made her truly happy and spending such a special holiday with him would make her doubly happy.

There was a knock on the door. The yellow pegasus felt her heart flutter inside of her chest. She trotted to the door and opened it. Looking up she saw him. He was standing at the stoop, his breath forming clouds around his face. Fluttershy looked down and giggled; he was wearing a red sweater with moving and flashing lights on it.

"Hello Discord, won't you come in?"

Discord flew in and shook the snow off him. Fluttershy laughed as the snow spun off of him and danced around the room before finally disappearing. The mare went to sit by the fire, cuddling into the blanket before the hearth.

The draconeqqus paused. Should be join her by the hearth or sit further back? Gathering his courage he went by her side. She cuddled up against him, sighting lightly.

"Fluttershy?"

The mare's eyes fluttered open. She picked her head up off of his shoulder and gazed upward.

"Yes, Discord?"

Discord paused and glanced away for a moment. He noticed that the room felt slightly warmer than usual.

"I know-it's a bit early but..."

Fluttershy's teal eyes lit up like a filly's. She shuffled beside him.

"Oh my Celestia! Did you-did you get me a gift?" she asked, genuinely surprised.

Discord visibly blushed. He held out his claw and a wrapped gift magically appeared in it. It was a small box wrapped in ever-changing paper and a pink bow shaped like a butterfly. Fluttershy took it in her hooves. She began to open it and her jaw opened slightly as she did so.

"Discord...I..."

Inside was a seed. She had never seen this particular variety before. Turning to inquire about her gift, Fluttershy opened her mouth. Discord paused her.

"It's a magical seed. I found it at the very edge of Equestria. The seed will produce a tree that will grow any way you ask it to. The tree will produce any fruit you ask of it at any time. I brought it for you..."

Suddenly Discord felt a warm embrace about his neck. It was Fluttershy. He reached down, hesitantly, and returned her embrace, stroking her pink mane gently. Suddenly she pulled away and flapped gently before him.

Blushing and smiling gently she said;

"Now it's time for my gift."

Discord flicked his tail in excitement and waited expectantly. Fluttershy put her hoof over his eyes and he closed them without further command. He felt a warm sensation upon his lips. It was gentle and hot. His whole body began to tingle and burn as if he were sitting to close to the hearth. It stopped and he opened his eyes once more.

Fluttershy giggled once more.

"Happy Hearth's Warming," she said.

Discord took her in his arms and kissed her once more.

"Happy Hearth's Warming indeed," he returned.

And outside the snow fell and blew about but inside the couple was perfectly warm.
