"Menma!"
Huh? I hear voices. Voices of my friends. I open my eyes one by one, and I see myself floating in midair. Strange, I tell myself. Suddenly, the surroundings changed, instead of me floating in midair, now I'm floating in water. I start to think why I'm in this place, I think and I think. And that's when I realize. I'm dead.
Maybe the reason why I am floating in water, is because this is the place my death occurred. I sigh, "Why is this happening to me?" Once again, the surroundings change. I see myself in the riverbank, floating. I try to grab something, anything. I need to get out of this river. I get a hold of a branch next to me, I pull myself out of the water. I looked around if there was somebody. I looked right and left; and there I saw a figure far away from me. I start to run, I don't care who it is, just let me find somebody, so that I can prove to myself that I'm not dead. I'm still alive. I start to get closer and closer to the figure, and there I saw Poppo, shocked.
I didn't understand why he was shocked, so I came closer to him and wave my hands in front of his face and saying Poppo's name over and over again. He can't hear me? No, no. Maybe he's just shocked and all...right? I try to hug him, but he just stands there however he talks to himself saying, "Ugh, it's so heavy. Both of my shoulders are heavy. I have to find them quickly. They have to know." I let go of my arms before he starts to run. They have to know? What does that mean? I try to run as fast as I could and there I found the house of Super Peace Busters. I walk inside and see everyone: Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuruko, Poppo and Jintan. Poppo stands at the doorway saying, "Menma is dead! If you don't believe me, follow me!" he runs outside. What dead? I'm here! I go to each and everyone of them saying, "Menma's here! Menma's here! Can't you see?" Tears are streaming down my face as I tell them this but every single one them runs, crying. Following Poppo. Except one, Jintan. I hug Jintan and tell him, "Jintan, Menma's here! C-Can't you see?" I start to realize no matter what I do, nobody sees me. Finally, Jintan speaks, "Menma? Dead? She can't be. She's still here." My face brightens. That's right Jintan! Menma is here! Jintan walks outside of the house, following them. "Guys, don't say that Menma's dead she-" suddenly they see my shoe in the water, floating. I look at my feet and see that I don't wear shoes. Just bare feet. "Umm... guys! Menma's still here! Look at me!" I start to move around them, making funny faces. Anything. Just to get their attention to me. But no, they still don't see me.
Doushite? {Why?} The third time the surroundings change and I am back in the place where I was floating. So I am dead. B-But I haven't given them a proper goodbye! Can't I go back again? Onegai? {Please?} I hear a mysterious voice, "Do you want to go back?" I look around if anyone was here but I just can't see him or her, "H-Hai! {Y-Yes!} Menma want to go back!" The mysterious voice speaks once again, "Why do you want to go back, Menma?" That's right, why do I want to go back? Is it because I want to be alive? Or maybe because I want to say a proper goodbye? And that's when it clicked. I knew why I want to go back. I tell the mysterious voice, "Menma want to go back, because I want to fulfill someone's wish. I don't know exactly whose wish but I have this big feeling that I have to fulfill this wish." I somehow feel the mysterious voice chuckled, "Alright then, we'll get you back to your real world. Soon."
It's been 10 years since I have spoke with the mysterious voice. I don't know why I know how many years, but somehow I knew. For the last time, the surroundings changed, I see myself in a room. Looks familiar. I scan the room more, and that's when I knew. I'm at Jintan's place.
