Chapter 1
fire , water, grass
The choice every ten year old has to make, what will your very first pokemon be. Most cases on your tenth birthday, you would travel to the nearest research lab and the professor would give you the choice between three pokemon: Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. You'd then fill out your trainer license and begin your adventure. There are special cases when pokemon are passed down through family or caught early in the wild.
My name is Patrick Crimson, and today is my tenth birthday. I live in a small village a short walk from Pallet Town, home to the famous Professor Oak and where I'll be getting my very first pokemon.
With the lab in sight, I began to walk faster and faster when all of a sudden, with a loud thud, I collided with another person and crashed to the ground. As we stood up I reached out a hand,
"I'm sorry, my name's Patrick. I'm clumsy, excited, and it's my birthday, what's your name?" The tall kid accepted the hand and replied, "My name's Chris, Chris P. Bakenn. My birthday was a few months ago but my family just moved here from Hoenn and they sent my friend Jake here."
"Oh, well it's nice to meet you Chris, I'm here to get a friend myself. Let's go inside." Patrick held the door open and moved his dark black hair out of his face
"You have red eyes?" Chris asked.
"Yeah, my mom says it's because my soul is made of fire." I replied with a big grin. The both of us walked into the lab and approached a tall man in a lab coat, with spiky brown hair, and an Umbreon at his side.
"Professor Oak?" I asked with a shaky voice. The man turned around and smiled, "Please, that was my gramps. You can call me Gary. Chris, I was wondering when you would be stopping by. Here are your Pokeballs and Pokedex, and I assume you are Patrick. Your mother called and let me know you were coming and I have everything ready for you. Have you put any thought into which starter you will be picking?"
"I have and I choose Charmander, the fire pokemon."
"Would you like to give your new pokemon a nickname?"
"I think I'll call him Slayer."
I said with a smile.
"Alright, and Christopher, here is your torchic, Jake. I wish you both the best of luck on your adventures."
"Chris, do you think we should battle Jake and Slayer?" I asked
"No I think we should wait until we're both strong and it will be an amazing fight worth watching." Chris replied
Gary presented them both with their new Pokedex, trainer license, and five pokeballs each. The two boys walked out to the edge of Pallet Town and looked out at the tall grass that fills every ten year olds dreams with mystery and adventure and together they took their first steps into the amazing world of Pokemon.
