A/N: This begins just as Lillie gives Sun the doll and turns to leave.

I stared down at the worn poké-doll in my arms. I looked up.

"Lillie, wait!"

Lillie turned around "What is it Su-"

Her eyes widened as my lips met hers.

"I'm sorry," I smiled sadly. "But I needed to do that before I lost the chance forever. Even if you don't feel the same way, I needed to-" This time my eyes widened as I felt her lips on mine. Idly I thought the blush on her cheeks was cute as she pulled away.

"I…I didn't know you felt the same way." Tears pooled in her eyes as she tightened our embrace.

"Lillie. Please, please stay here," I pleaded. "Stay in Alola, stay with me."

"Sun, you know I can't do that." I felt both our hearts rip in two. "I want to so much, but I have to do it." Lillie turned her eyes downwards. "With mother poisoned from a pokémon fusion, one of the few ways to cure her lays in Kanto. I heard a man named Bill fused with a rattata. He eventually fixed himself, and that gives me hope." She smiled sadly. "Outside of that, I can't grow here, and you know this. I need to go on my own journey. If you truly…if you truly feel that way for me, then you know that what I'm doing is right."

"She's right cousin." I looked behind me. Kukui nodded, eyes closed wisely. "If you love something, you got to let it be free, and if she loves you right back, she'll come back to you each time."

"I know. But I can't help but be selfish." I felt tears pool in my eyes. In this moment, I didn't care what people thought of the grand champion of Alola crying. All I cared about was the girl I fell in love with. I turned to Lillie. "As much as it hurts, I know you need to do this. Just please, promise you'll come back. That you'll come back to Alola, come back to me."

I felt her tears stain my shirt. "I promise."

I smiled sadly at Lillie as she waved from the back of the boat.

"Thank you!" She shouted. "Thank you for all the smiles and adventures we shared!"

"Just come back to us you hear!?" Hau shouted. "Let us know the instant you come back and we'll all go out for malasadas together!"

She was farther away now. The fog had slowly obscured the boat.

"Alola, Lillie. I love you." I whispered, and despite the distance between us, I know she heard it.

She smiled, tears in her eyes. "Alola, Sun. I love you too."
